Why Indel B minibars
Guests sleep undisturbed, energy use drops and the minibar blends into the room furniture. Our recommendation: K Ecosmart for low consumption, and Breeze for completely silent rooms.
Indel B hotel minibars come with a compressor (K Ecosmart, Cube, Flyingbar Evo, Horizon, Ycon) or are thermoelectric (Drink T Plus, Breeze). Compressor models use 0.134 to 0.216 kWh per 24 hours and run at 33–38 dB; thermoelectric models have no compressor and are completely silent (as stated on the manufacturer’s data sheet). Absorption models are for non-EU projects only.
They come built-in, wall-mounted, counter-top or freestanding, with a solid, panel or glass door. The Fridom line, designed by Massimo Mussapi, turns the minibar into a piece of furniture.

Two choices, two motivations
K Ecosmart: the efficient choice
- Compressor minibar with the lowest consumption in the Indel B range: 0.134–0.216 kWh per 24 hours.
- With an Energy Saver or a building automation system, the compressor switches on and off according to guest presence (Smart Mode). Without them, it runs in Timer Mode.
- Right for hotels with many rooms, where consumption adds up.
Breeze: the choice for quiet
- Thermoelectric minibar with no compressor and no fans: completely silent (as stated on the manufacturer’s data sheet) and free of vibration.
- The lightest and most compact thermoelectric line from Indel B; also recommended on cruise ships, where vibration is a problem.
- Right for rooms where the guest’s sleep matters most.
Cooling technologies: compressor, thermoelectric, absorption
Compressor minibar: energy efficiency and performance
The Ecosmart system manages the compressor: in Timer Mode it runs at least 6 hours in 24, and in Smart Mode, with an Energy Saver or Building Automation in the room, according to guest presence. With cyclopentane insulation and R600a gas, the running cost of every room stays low.
Thermoelectric minibar: completely silent operation
No compressor and no fans: completely silent (as stated on the manufacturer’s data sheet) and free of vibration. Right for rooms where the guest’s sleep matters most.
Old absorption minibars? Calculate the saving from replacing them
The previous generation, still installed in many hotels, uses four to six times as much energy as a compressor minibar of the same capacity. The calculator below shows how much you save.

Compared with a previous-generation absorption minibar, still installed in many hotels, the K Ecosmart range cuts energy consumption by up to 76.3 %. For 100 rooms, over 10 years, at 0.20 €/kWh, the difference is €32,047.50.

Minibars and safes: frequently asked questions
What does Smart Mode need to work on an Ecosmart minibar?
Smart Mode switches the compressor on and off based on guest presence, but needs an Energy Saver or Building Automation system in the room. Without one, the minibar runs in Timer Mode and still drops into Eco Mode after 24 hours unoccupied.
How much quieter is a thermoelectric minibar than a compressor one?
The thermoelectric range has no compressor and no internal or external fans at all, so there is effectively no running noise — why Breeze is recommended for cruise ships, where vibration matters.
Why are Indel B minibars rated C, D or E instead of the old A+++?
The EU efficiency scale was rescaled in 2021; today's C-E classes correspond to the old A+++ tier — not a drop in real performance.
How long until a compressor minibar pays for itself in energy savings?
Indel B's own figure is around 6 months, based on average EU energy costs (September 2023) — the exact payback depends on the model and local energy price.
Does K Winebar 35 store white and red wine at the same temperature?
No — an internal divider keeps a 4-6°C difference between two zones, with one cooling system and two temperature sensors.
What does "plug-in, no batteries" mean on a safe, and is it worth it at hotel scale?
Safe Smart Plug-in units run directly off the mains (100-240V) instead of 4×1.5V AA batteries — fewer maintenance visits and less battery waste across a whole property; a standard 9V battery in a dedicated slot still covers emergency opening if the power is out.
Can hotels check who opened an in-room safe, and when?
Yes — Safe 10/30/35 Smart and Safe Top Open Smart models can log the last 300 openings, readable via PC and an external Audit Trail/Data Kit.
Do Safe 30 and 35 Smart have a laptop charging socket?
Yes — an internal Schuko socket for laptops and electronic devices, plus built-in USB ports.
Are absorption minibars still an option for a hotel in the EU?
Not from Indel B — the company has fully replaced absorption technology (water-ammonia) for the European market; absorption models in the catalogue are explicitly marked non-EU only.
Minibar or small room fridge: what is the difference?
A hotel minibar is built for the guest room: it runs quietly or silently, uses little energy in continuous operation, has a reversible door and can be built into furniture. An ordinary small fridge is not designed to run 24 hours a day next to the guest's bed.
