Thermoelectric minibars
Peltier effect: current passes through a semiconductor element and moves heat from one side to the other. No compressor, no fan, no refrigerant. The only technology in the range whose technical sheet states, in writing, "completely silent".
How it works
A semiconductor module cools one face and heats the other when current runs through it. Nothing moves and nothing compresses, so it produces neither sound nor vibration. Like absorption, it cools relative to room temperature. Volumes go up to 38 L, so it also covers larger rooms, not just small ones.
Consumption
0.263–0.647 kWh per 24h, i.e. 96–236 kWh per room per year. More than compressor, but roughly half of absorption. Energy classes are F and G.
Noise — this is the argument
Indel B sheets for Drink T Plus and Breeze explicitly state "completely silent". It is the only one of the three technologies that states it in writing. If a suite or design room needs to be quiet and you want to be able to prove it, this is the answer — not absorption.
When you choose it
- When silence is the criterion and you want a claim you can back with the spec sheet
- Suites, design rooms, boutique hotels, spas
- Consistently air-conditioned rooms
- When you want an absorption alternative at half the consumption
When not
- Hot climates without permanent AC
- High occupancy with frequent openings
- When you need wall-mounted or countertop fitting — those variants exist only in compressor
Lines with this technology
Drink T Plus (T20/T30/T40/T60), Breeze (T30/T40), Drawer (TD Series).
The Indel B story →Thermoelectric cooling, used in the Drink T Plus and Breeze ranges, runs on the Peltier effect: no compressor, so no vibration and no internal or external fans. An epoxy-resin seal ensures a long service life. Consumption is higher (0.263-0.647 kWh/24h), but the light weight and vibration-free operation make Breeze — the lightest minibar in the range — the recommended choice for cruise ships.
The three technologies, side by side
