The Ecosmart system in Indel B minibars: Timer, Smart and Eco Mode
How Ecosmart cuts a hotel minibar's energy use with three modes — Timer, Smart and Eco. Step by step, with figures from the Indel B catalogue.
A hotel minibar stays plugged in around the clock, whether or not the guest is in the room. What sets an Indel B Ecosmart minibar apart is not a single fixed programme, but three operating modes, each built for a different moment in a room's life.
Timer Mode runs the compressor for a minimum of 6 hours in 24, enough to hold a constant temperature without running needlessly the rest of the time — the baseline on every K Ecosmart model.
Smart Mode goes further where the room already has an Energy Saver or a Building Automation system: the compressor switches on and off based on whether the guest is actually in the room.
Eco Mode kicks in automatically once a room has been unoccupied for more than 24 hours, saving up to a further 30% on top of normal operation — a common scenario in low season or on lightly booked floors.
Together, these three modes are why the K Ecosmart range reaches up to 77% lower consumption than the best absorption products on the market, and why every Indel B product already complies with the EU energy labelling Directive and Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 — programmed cooling cycles and constant low-power temperature maintenance, not just stand-by and switch-off.
