ADA's 2025 sustainability report: what a hotel in Romania can use
In September 2026, ADA Cosmetics published its sustainability report for 2025. For a hotel in Romania, this is more than supplier news. It is one of the documents you can add to your property's ESG file, provided you know what it proves and what it does not.
A supplier document that feeds into the hotel's reporting
Hotel cosmetics, dispensers and refills are purchased goods. In the logic of indirect emissions, they fall under the hotel's Scope 3, in the purchased goods and services category. When a hotel group, a bank or a corporate client asks you for supply-chain data, the manufacturer's report is where you start.
ADA's 2025 report is issued voluntarily and prepared in accordance with the VSME standard for small and medium-sized enterprises, with selected ESRS data points added. That makes it comparable with other European disclosures and easy to cite: it contains indicators, targets and a base year, not just statements of principle.
The report also profiles the company: 657 employees, 16 locations worldwide, 37,167 active customers and sales in 103 countries in 2025. Since that year, ADA Cosmetics has been part of the PINK PLANET GROUP, alongside BWT Water Dispensing and BWT water+more, an alliance that connects water and cosmetic refill systems.
The figures a purchaser can cite
For a procurement or sustainability manager, what counts are the figures that describe the product bought and the supplier's conduct. These are the ones we recommend, each traceable to the report:
- 75% plastic saving for customers when switching from small portions to dispensers, according to ADA's report.
- 18% fewer small portions manufactured in 2025 than in 2024, according to ADA's report.
- Almost 29% of production in 2025 was dispensers (bottles over 100 ml), up more than 9 points since 2023, according to ADA's report.
- Science-based climate targets: a 42% cut in absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 2030 against 2022, in line with the 1.5 °C pathway, and net zero by 2050, according to ADA's report.
- EcoVadis Gold in 2025, for the second year running, placing the company in the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis in the previous 12 months, according to ADA's report.
- CDP B rating in the Climate Change section, after reporting Scope 3 emissions for the first time.
- Green Key Global Preferred Vendor in the US and Canada since 2025.
If your hotel follows a programme such as Green Key, the report notes that the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Full Scope Silver certification of the core portfolio is acknowledged by Green Key and GreenSign at Silver level.
Refillution, a finalist at the German Sustainability Award 2025
The automated Refillution refill system was named a finalist in the "Resources" category of the German Sustainability Award (Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis) 2025. For a hotel, the useful detail is not the nomination but what lies behind it: every SmartCube and every dispenser carries a Data Matrix code, so only compatible units connect and every refill is documented. The report states that the system meets the traceability requirement of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, confirmed by a legal assessment.
"For years, we have invested purposefully in sustainable product and system solutions—from mono-material, recyclable dispenser technologies to efficient refill processes," said Christine Reinhardt, Chief of CSR at ADA Cosmetics.
Hygiene is the next question any operations director raises. The report describes the independent study by Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, which found that contamination in dispensers came from the pump mechanism, not from refilling. That led to the 100% mono-material pump with a patented drainage system. In addition, every new formula undergoes microbiological challenge tests to ISO 11930, and the results are made available to clients. That is a concrete document you can request and file. More on the system on our refills and Refillution page, and on wall dispensers on the SmartCare page.
What the report does not do
The report describes ADA Cosmetics' performance, not your hotel's. Three limits are worth stating plainly:
- It does not certify the hotel. A product certification such as Cradle to Cradle, or a company rating such as EcoVadis, belongs to the manufacturer. It supports a claim about the bathroom products, not about the building, energy or water.
- It does not replace your own data. Quantities purchased, rooms fitted with dispensers and small portions phased out are the hotel's data. The 75% saving applies only to consumption that has actually moved from small portions to dispensers.
- It does not justify a generic claim on its own. From 27 September 2026, under Government Emergency Ordinance (OUG) no. 18/2026, generic wording such as "green hotel" or "eco-friendly" requires recognised excellent environmental performance. A supplier's report supports a specific, verifiable claim, such as "refillable dispensers with traceability codes", not an overall label.
The practical steps for the file, from supplier to hotel, are in our guide to ESG reporting for hotels.
What to ask your supplier for
A solid file on hotel cosmetics usually contains: the manufacturer's sustainability report, current product certificates, ISO 11930 test results for the formulas you use, and your own order history for dispensers, refills and small portions. The last document is what lets you calculate how much plastic you have actually avoided.
Information note: the figures in this article come from ADA Cosmetics' Sustainability Report 2025 and describe the company and its products, not the performance of any particular hotel. This article is for information only and does not constitute legal advice on environmental claims.
